Woodloch Resort: Where We are All Special

I have traveled across six continents. What I know for sure is that we all want to be seen, in some way. We want to have positive interactions with others, to some extent. And we want to be engaged in something we enjoy, or feel productive.

Woodloch Resort in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania does all of that. They have been rated as one of the best all-inclusive family resorts in the U.S., and now I know why. The property is expansive and beautifully maintained, and the views around Lake Teedyuskung are as serene as it gets. Though I believe it is the consistent delivery of the original mission “to treat all guests as if they were company in their own homes,” that has sustained and grown this family-owned and operated resort for over 65 years.

We felt welcomed upon arrival, and continued to receive that warmth and hospitality throughout our stay. There were so many activities, for all age groups – from young children under five years old through senior citizens. All seemed to be fully engaged in what brought them joy. The dining experience truly felt as if we were guests in their home, complete with daily greetings by senior members of the Kiesendahl family.

While I was not visiting from the lens of Special Travelers, in all my experience traveling with families and individuals of varying needs, I imagine that Woodloch would meet many of them exactly where they are. Not because they have been received a certification in doing so, but because they have such strong habits in truly seeing individuals and creating an environment of not only acceptance, but also unhindered joy.
